To catch you up, in early July, Beautycounter launched its latest skincare collection called Countertime, to help battle the anti-aging signs of wrinkles, uneven skin tone, visible pores, dry skin and more. All six products feature a plant-derived Retinatural Complex made up of two breakthrough age-defying plant essences—Bakuchiol and Swiss Alpine Rose—to provide a safer alternative to retinol, delivering similar skin benefits without the potential side effects (in fact, retinol is on the Never List).
If I had to buy just one of the products in the Collection, I would choose the Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream because of my personal results. But I highly recommend if you are struggling with one area in your routine (or simply just out of something and ready to switch to safer skincare), you could easily start with just replacing that one item and incorporating it into your routine. For maximum results, I recommend the entire line-up, but that’s not in everyone’s best budgetary interests, so that’s why I’m here.
My second favorite product is the Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil. It feels counterintuitive at first to wash your face an OIL, but it really is heavenly. I also put one pump on a cotton pad to remove my eye makeup with it in the evenings. The oil washes off easily (the water looks milky when washing off) and your face will feel re-freshed, not oily. I’ve also been using it 2x a day and only half of my bottle is gone in two months, so I suspect it will last four full months.
The night cream, Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream is also tops on my favorite list because our skin goes through a regenerative stage at night and it’s important to give it the right nutrients to replenish and rebuild itself. It’s super thick and soft with no funky after smell that keeps me up at night or itching.
The Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum is action-packed to provide a high concentration of the most vital ingredients that will make a huge difference in your skin. If you are mostly happy with other creams you have and just looking to add an anti-aging powerhouse into your routine, go with the serum.
The Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence brings together the cleanser and the serum, prepping your face for the vital steps ahead and delivering a dose of the power packed ingredients. Think of it like a toner, but more nourishing. It’s a concentrated layer of hydration that delivers essential nutrients to the skin and helps serums, lotions and creams absorb more easily.
And the day cream, the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream, is super soft and goes a loooong way. It delivers a little glow to the face, making makeup afterwards totally optional (personally speaking).
THE FINAL WORD: I honestly didn’t realize how dry my skin was before I used Countertime. I thought I had combination or normal skin. I would occasionally have dryness on my cheeks but never thought I had DRY skin. I am now realizing after using Countertime for two months that my skin was in desperate need of some extra hydration to fight the signs of aging. After all, I am older than my husband and I would like everyone to keep believing he’s the older one ; )
For anyone interested in trying Countertime but you need to see it, touch it, feel it first, then let me know by email and I’ll be happy to drop a sample packet in the mail (it contains the oil, the essence, the serum and the night cream).
And finally, here’s the grand finale: my BEFORE and AFTER of using Countertime for two months. Let me be the first to say that before and afters give me the heebee jeebees because I feel like there’s some sort of trickery involved. I can promise you there is not, from me. I could not replicate the lighting because we moved houses, so sorry about that. But when you zoom into specific areas, you will notice these differences:
- My under eye area: holy wow. I knew my under eye dark circles and wrinkles were bad, but I never knew I could make them look this much better by using an anti-aging line. (fun fact: this is the first time I’ve ever used a complete skincare line!)
- My brown melasma spots (most noticeable on my forehead, between my eyes, on my nose and around my lips) have been even further reduced beyond just using the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, which is what I’ve used for about two years and I still incorporate that into my routine 2-3 times a week.
- Acne scars around my chin diminished or disappeared.
Overall my skin feels more hydrated, nourished and smoother. I’ve been using way less make-up and never felt more confident in my skin before now. I still think there’s a long way to go on my melasma, but I’m more encouraged than ever to keep using these outstanding products. You can shop Beautycounter here.
